How do matches work?

  • Vortex League matches happen between two teams.
  • The aim of the game is to destroy the other team’s cannon.
  • Both sides have shields which can be regenerated using the repair bot.
  • Before each match, the order in which each team’s weapons are unlocked is randomized.
    • Weapons are unlocked after fixed amounts of time. Locked weapon buckets have a timer display showing the time until the weapon is unlocked.
  • Marbles eventually fall into different types of buckets:
    • Weapon buckets assign a weapon type to a marble, indicated by colour. These join a queue to be fired by the cannon.
    • Repair bucket assigns the marble as a repair marble. These join a queue to trigger the repair bot.
    • Multiplier bucket (e.g. X2) multiplies the marble’s number by the value. All marbles start in the mixer with a value of 1.
      • Multipliers increase over time to X2.5 and then finally X3
    • Addition bucket (+1) adds a number to the marble’s number.
  • Cannons fire marbles in order according to the cannon queue.
  • If there are too many marbles in the cannon queue, they will fall out of the overspill.
  • If marbles have a value over 500, the canon or repair bot will only use 500 of that value, and then spit out a value with the remainder.
    • e.g. if a marble with a value of 820 falls into the cannon, the cannon will spit out a marble with a value of 820-500=320, and fire 500 shots.

How does the League work?

  • Each team plays each other twice - once home, and once away
  • League position is decided by the following stats in order or importance (topmost is the most important)
    • Points
    • Health
    • Head-to-head results (if any at this point)
    • Alphabetical order
  • League position examples
    • If two teams have the same number of points, but Team A has 540 health and Team B has 200 health, then Team A is above Team B in the league table.
    • If two teams have the same number of points and health, but Team B beat Team A in the one match they have played, then Team B is above Team A.
    • If two teams have the same number of point, same health, and both teams won one each in the two head-to-heads, but in head-to-heads Team A has 70 health and Team B has 30 health, then Team A is above team B.
